Unfortunately, the film The Delinquents is not easy to get because it is uncatologued and you can only get through Internet a cinematographic sequence in several formats but always the same the one when Lola and Brownie make love. But we are going to speak about this wonderfull movie that show us how was Australian society in the 50`s.
The Delinquents is the first movie starred by Kylie Minogue in 1989. Directed by Chris Thomson, Kylie plays the role of a fifteen years old girl named Lola Lovell deeply being in love with a boy of the same town who hands out telegrams, named Brownie Hansen, played by Charlie Schlatter. Kylie was 15 and along the movie she had to make a great transformation. The idyll takes place on a little Australian town named Bundaberg in 1957 and being the two of them teenagers their love is forbidden by their owns parents who try to separate them by all means. Lola lives with her mother who teaches piano and works on a pub and Brownie has a stepfather who is continually punching.
Brownie has seen Lola when he hands out telegrams and he follows her whe she gets out the school or he goes to her home and look at her through the window while she plays piano. Brownie is always punched by his stepfather. His father was a sailor and released him some years ago. The boring atmosphere of the town, the destroyed lives of the parents in both Lola and Brownie, contribute that they be in love and try to save their happiness. Lola lives with her mother on a hotel room ant they are speaking while she reads "Romeo and Juliet". One night Lola and Brownie go to the same theatre but when they are going to enter, the theatre is closed because is full of people, but the owner let pass a well dresed couple and Brownie protest. Brownie climbs to the roof of the theatre and removes the great letters that announce the title of the movie "The Wild One" and Lola sees him on the night darkness and when the owner of the theatre is going to discover Brownie, she speaks to him in order to save Brownie. Afterwards they give a stroll and they finally seat and present each other. He tells her his name and asks if she is Lola. She agrees and begin to speak and thet otice that have the same hobbies,reading books, listen the same kind of music, and they are excited naming songs and players or titles of books and their authors. Lola asks Brownie if he has read "Romeo and Juliet" and Brownie asks her who is the writer and she says William Shakespeare. A boat pass near them, full of youg people who are dancing and singing on the cover and Lola and begins to dance following the boat music although they are on the rails of the train.
