Lola and Brownie are with Bosun in a bar and Bosun explains than once he fell in love with a wonderfull woman and Lola ask him why it did not remain with her and he responds that too comfortable for him, that is not the type of life to him. Suddenly Brownie sees that the police is entering the premises and takes to Lola and they go away. Bosun tries to stop the police to give them time to leave. Once in the street they run but they see a pair of policemen and give average return and they leave running but that has called the attention of the agents who follow them and stop asking to them from what they flee. They ask many questions to them and in the end they ask them if they have money. They shut up and the answer is that if they do not have money are outside the law. Brownie says to them that he does not have money but has a job in a boat. The police does not do case and puts them into a car in a bad way. Later, in a court, the judge says to Brownie that what he does in the sea is his subject and of his head, but in earth must fulfill the law that says he must demonstrate that has a way to stay and for broken that law they condemn to him with a fine of 12 pounds and they forgive to him to see Lola Lovell by a period of 12 months. Lola is in her new house where the person who takes care of her is called aunt Westbury who explains to her that when his baby died she decided to dedicate her life to take care of girls like her. She says to all of them that is better to live calm in house that to look for strong emotions. While she is speaking aunt Westbuy brings a pie to her. Lola remains watching aunt Westbury and with a punch splits the pie by half and eats pieces taken with the hand. Afterwards aun Westbury makes a suit to her in order not to call the attention and later she says to her that is going to molding the hair that will cause that it feels like new. Lola says that she does not want to feel new and the lady continues saying that most of girls they dye the hair to indicate that they belong to somebody and that they ruin their life by the men, by sex. The lady says to her she will not say that she enjoys sex. Lola says that yes, that she enjoys sex enough, she likes to be with Brownie. Lola says to her that she enchants when Brownie takes off the shirt and soon it clears hers and feels his muscles of his chest and its arms. Later as he kisses her and she feels him in all the body and she enchants the face that Brownie puts when he is on the verge of... The lady interrupts her and she orders Lola to go away to his room. Lola receives the visit of her friends Mavis and Lyle with the small Sharon Faylene and they say to her that they have received a postcard from Brownie that is in a boat way of San Francisco. Then Mrs. Westbury arrives and Lola presents her friends to her, but the lady says that she feels all the visits must be approved by the court. Lola is into the WC to have something of privacy. Aunt Westbury calls her and Lola responds to her in a bad way. She is writing a letter to Brownie where he says to him: "Dear Brownie, I love you where ever you were. Please come and rescue me. I live in the direction that puts above. They have put me to the care of a revolting woman, is an excrement. Lola is at home playinng the piano when Mrs. Westbury enters the room and says to her that she stop and come because she wants to present her to somebody. Mrs. Westbury presents a girl to her who is called Isobel and she says that she is one of his successes. They occur the hand and Isobel says to her that is enchanted to meet her but Lola responds that do not be so sure. Aunt Westbury continues presenting and she says that now Isobel is married and has a precious girl. She says that she would enchant the house that she has with all household-electric, the modern ones and says that she is deserved much more and to which Isobel responds that it went thanks to aunt Westbury. The form Isoble speaks displeases Lola because she is continually speaking well and thanking aunt Westbury for anything and Lola goes away of the quarter, although the aunt says to Isobel that thinks that she and Lola could be great friends. Lola has gone outside the house and passes the mailman who says to her that today he does not have letter of his friend. Lola asks what is he speaking about and the mailman says that about her travelling friend who writes from so different countries: Spain, Singapur, San Francisco and hopes she keeps the seals. Lola says to aunt Westbury that have been robbing her letters and ask her where are the they, but the aunt says that she does not know what are speaking about. Lola says that the mailman has been bringing letters for her and she has hidden them. The aunt responds that she does not know where they are, only that is remainder of them by her own good. Lola asks very upset where they are or she is going to break everything what there is in the house. Isobel tries to hold her but Lola gives a push her and follows with her threat. The aunt says that Brownie Hansen had instructions of not putting himself in contact with her and her definition of those instructions includes the contact by mail, are desires of the court. She requests to her that she loosen the cup that Lola has in her hand in threat to break it and Lola let the cup fall to the ground and it breaks. Lola says to her that thank heavens that the world is not made with her definitions because it would be terribly ugly, it would be done of sets of dishes and dresses but nothing of love because that is what she fears more. "You are scared of the love and you try to kill it in the others, but you cannot avoid that the others are wanted. Then Lola gives a terrible punch to her face that leaves aunt Westbury thrown in a corner and next Lola takes off her dress that has made aunt Westbury and she says to put the dress to where it fits her. Mrs. Lovell receives a telephone call. It is Lola that is calling her from a telephone cabin and she says that she needs her aid. Mrs. Lovell is drunk and she says to her that Lola is not there. Lola says to her mother to put sober, that she is Lola, but Mrs. Lovell hangs the telephone to her and Lola breaks the glass of the telephone cabin because of the frustration that feels. Lola goes away to the house of her friends and she says to them that she hopes that Brownie have received her letters and Mavis responds to her that he will understand it. Lyle says that do not worry about Brownie, that the sailors always return with their true love and taking to his daughter in arms he says that has to take her to bed and he says to his little daugther to say good bye to aunt Lola. Lola says to Mavis the good husband Lyle is and she responds to her that the poor man is crazy in love with her. Mavis asks her what is she going to do now and Lola says that she supposes that she will go away to Sidney because she must find to Brownie. Lola smiles and says to her friend that today is her birthday. Mavis prepares a pie with a candle that Lola extinguishes and Mavis asks her if she has formulated a desire but then someone call to the door. Lola leaves running to open and when doing it she is in front of the police that takes her to a correctine in whose iron door of entrance there is a poster that puts: "JACARANDA FLATS.
